During an emergency, the Pleasant Valley and Oxnard Union School Districts may close some or all of their campuses. If evacuation of a portion of Camarillo is necessary, certain schools may be utilized as Red Cross emergency shelters. Emergency instructions will be transmitted by radio and television. It is important to obtain such information before taking action. Never proceed to an emergency shelter unless instructed to do so.
The Emergency Alert System, formerly known as the Emergency Broadcast System, operates primarily on two (2) area radio stations:
KVEN (am) 1450
KHAY (fm) 100.7
In any event, parents are urged to make advance arrangements for their children in case of an emergency. If possible, make plans with a friend of family member in an adjacent city that can care for your children during an emergency in Camarillo. Do not call a school or the district office during an emergency, since telephone lines must be kept open for emergency personnel.
