CAMARILLO ARTS COUNCIL
The Camarillo Arts Council (CAC) is a non-profit organization that supports and presents the performing and visual arts in Camarillo. CAC was established in 1983 and received its non-profit status in January, 1985. The council is run entirely by volunteers, with a board of directors of 17 members. The programs presented by the Camarillo Arts Council are funded by membership dues, corporate donations, grants, and audience contributions.
The primary focus of the Camarillo Arts Council has been the presentation of seven free concerts each summer. The concerts are free to the public, although donations are accepted. The concerts are held approximately every other Saturday night from 7:30 until 9:00, during the months of June, July, August, and into September. A Just for Youth program is presented before the regular concerts, giving local young performers the opportunity to perform. CAC has strived to present a wide variety of performers each summer, ranging from Country Western to a symphony orchestra, offering something for everyone.
The Summer Concerts in the Park are held at Constitution Park at the corner of Paseo Camarillo and Carmen Drive. The audience brings lawn chairs or blankets for seating, along with picnic dinners for a relaxing evening under the stars. Several other non-profit organizations have concession stands selling food items such as hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks, coffee and cookies.
