CONSTRUCTION PLANS & DEVELOPMENT REVIEW
|
The City Public Works, Community Develop-ment, and Building & Safety Departments are responsible for all construction and development projects in Camarillo. The Public Works Depart-ment coordinates the review of utility, open space and street improvement plans. All plans for projects within the public right-of-way must be submitted to the Public Works Department.

The Public Works Department also provides information pertaining to water and sanitary system fees and services. For more information, please contact the Public Works Department at 388-5380.
Plans for projects located on private property must be submitted for review to the Department of Community Development. Department staff will then determine whether a project can be approved “over the counter,” or if it must go through an additional review process, which may involve the Planning Commission and, in some instances, the City Council. To contact the Department of Community Development, please call 388-5360.
Upon approval by the Department of Community Development, projects are then referred to the Building and Safety Department for permitting. Again, permits for simple projects such as new patios, change-outs of doors and windows, new roofs, etc. may be done with one visit to City Hall. More involved projects may require longer approval periods, or even, as indicated, a public hearing. To contact the Building and Safety Department, please call 388-5395.
