Sanitary Plant Tour - Biosolids

Digestion System

Biosolids produced during secondary treatment are transferred to the digester system so the organic compounds contained in the wastes can be degraded by microorganisms. Once transferred, the biosolids in the digester tanks are augmented periodically with a customized blend of facultative bacteria, proteins, target enzymes and minerals supplied by Ennix Incorporated.

Digestion System

By using this novel digestion process rather than conventional aerobic digestion, oxygen transfer is not required thus conserving the large amount of electrical energy normally required to stabilize organic wastes. Once the performance goals are realized, the biosolids are dewatered in drying beds and stored prior to hauling.
